The CAI-Asia Center established its China office in Beijing in 2004. China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) hosts the China office since 2010.
Members of the China network of cities are Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Hangzhou, Harbin, Jinan, Luoyang, Lanzhou, Qingdao, Tianjin, and Urumqi.
The China office organizes annual city workshops in partnership with Ministry of Environment Protection, the most recent city workshop was the 3rd Co-benefits Workshop (the 7th Air Quality Management City Workshop of CAI-Asia China Network) in June 2011 in Dalian. The 5th Air Quality Management City Workshop of CAI-Asia China Network in July 2010, Beijing was formally entitled as Air Quality Management City Workshop of CAI-Asia China Network for the first time.

Besides, China Office regularly releases China Project E-Newsletters from 2005, provides latest news about air quality, energy, transport, and climate change in China and has been praised by hundreds of direct subscribers from government, academy, development agencies, NGOs and private sectors. In the next year, China Office prepares to provide more direct and visible air quality analysis of selected China cities (13 member cities and the important cities) based on public data.
The China office is the secretariat of CAI-Asia's Country Network in China which is part of the CAI-Asia Partnership. Cities, national government agencies, academic institutions, nongovernment organizations, private sector companies, and development agencies can apply for free membership to the CAI-Asia Partnership.
