Ozone (O3) is a gas composed of three oxygen atoms. It has the same chemical structure whether in the stratosphere level or troposphere (ground) level but differ in function and effects. Stratospheric O3 is naturally formed and is useful against harmful ultraviolet radiation, while ground level O3 is a toxic air pollutant formed by chemical reactions of man-made (as well as natural) emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the presence of sunlight and heat.
