Dear Clean Air Friends

I am undertaking a study to suggest govenrment of Nepal on devising
economic instruments/policy to promote vertical shaft brick kilns (
VSBK). Although VSBK is cleaner technology, it has low penetration in
the market due to high investment requirement, resistance from
enterprueners to change their attitude and behaviour towards newer
technology and low awareness level. In this context, it is imperative
to devise innovative economic policy instrument to attract private
sector for investing more in cleaner technology.

I am looking for examples, success stories and case studies on
employing economic policy instrument around the world and region to
promote cleaner technology in industry for cleaner air. If you have
any information or links in this regard then please help me out to get
access to such links. I am particulalry interested to know policy
measures taken in India, Vietnam, China, Pakistan and Bangladesh to
promote cleaner technology in Brick sector or other relevant sector.

Thanking you in advance !

With warm regards

When at UNEP, we undertook a study into different financial / economic instruments and their application to improving energy efficiency in industry, including technology applications. The report not only gives examples but also provides a categorization of economic instruments that you can use. The report can be downloaded on http://www.energyefficiencyasia.org/docs/tools/training_materials/Financ...
