Jan 22, Colombo: The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) of Sri Lanka is to monitor the quality of the air in order to help address the issue of air pollution.
CEA Chairman, Charitha Herath has said that there has been an increase in air pollution in the country. The CEA has made arrangements to install instruments to monitor the quality of the air in several highly populated cities in the country.
The Chairman has noted that machines would be fixed in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Anuradhapura in the first phase of the programme.
According to Herath, the data stored in the machines would help the CEA address the issue of air pollution in the country.
