The Asian Development Bank (ADB) hosted its second ADB Transport Forum from 25–27 May, 2010 at ADB Headquarters in Manila. The theme of the 2010 Transport Forum is “Changing Course: Pathways to Sustainable Transport”.
ADB has prepared a major new initiative – the Sustainable Transport Initiative – to scale-up its support for making transport more sustainable. It is carrying out this initiative in collaboration with development member countries and in partnership with other donors, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector. The Transport Forum is an important event for the transport community within ADB to discuss the Sustainable Transport Initiative and its implications for future transport operations. Equally, it is an opportunity for governmental and non-governmental stakeholders of ADB member countries and the SLoCaT community to enter into a dialogue with the ADB on the relevance of the initiative for them.
The 2010 Transport Forum is organized by ADB in partnership with some of the SLoCaT members: the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy and the EMBARQ/ WRI Center for Sustainable Transport. CAI-Asia will be presenting on walkability and fuel economy standards, and display its Clean Air Portal that was developed with ADB and Japan Special Fund support.
An overview of the draft program is attached.
In line with the theme of changing course toward sustainable transport, the program for the 2010 Transport Forum will cover the four areas chosen as the initial focus of the Sustainable Transport Initiative:
